Funding Box: The Latest Startup Funding News

The Funding Box provides information on venture capital/private equity and startup funding. Here's a list of top startup funding stories.

Omada, a Copenhagen, Denmark-based provider of identity and access governance (IAG) and identity and access management software (IAM), has received $24 million in minority equity investment. C5 Capital made this equity investment. The company plans to use the capital for continued expansion and enhance its R&D works. Omada provides identity and access governance (IAG) and identity and access management (IAM) software for businesses. Omada is currently employs 120 people, it customers include BMW Group, Bayer Group, Altria Group, Maersk, HVB Unicredit, Dekabank and ECCO.

Decorist, a San Francisco-based interior design platform that connects users to personalized home design services, has raised $4.5 million in funding round. Investors included Lowe's Companies, the Women's Venture Capital and some angel investors. Decorist provides an interior design platform for people who want personalized assistance with their decorating decisions. 

Lyft Inc., a San Francisco-based ridesharing service ( a Uber competitor), has raised an additional $150 million in founding round led by Icahn Enterprises L.P., the diversified holding company controlled by Carl C. Icahn. The fresh funds will be used to boost its US presence and continue to advance its product. Lyft provides an iOS and Android app to request rides by nearby community drivers who pass comprehensive background  checks. This funding round followed a $530 million funding announced last March 2015 and a $250 million round in June 2014.

dopay, a London-based provider of payroll and cash management service, has raised $2 million in seed funding round. Investors included ACE & Company, Techstars Ventures and a group of angel investors. The funds will be used to launch its services in Egypt and expand into new markets.dopay offers a cloud-based payroll service that allows employers to calculate salaries and pay all employee electronically. 

Sureline Systems Inc., a Santa Clara, CA-based provider of enterprise-class software appliance, has raised $4.5 million in Series B funding round. Investors included Unigen, a supplier of enterprise grade flash storage and applications, as well as other unnamed existing and new investors. Sureline provides enterprise-class software appliance SURE edge® for business critical Application Mobility and Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity to any cloud or enterprises’ own multi-site data centers.

Square, a San Francisco-based financial services, merchant services aggregator and mobile payments firm, has received an additional outside investment to expand Square capital, its small business financing program. Square allow individuals and merchants to accept offline debit and credit cards on their smartphones. It provides a register service with tools for every part of running a business, from accepting credit cards, to sales and inventory tracking.

Space Ape Games, a London-based mobile games studio, has raised £4.25m in funding, Silicon Valley Bank made the funding. The company plans to use the funds to continue to grow the business and its team. Space Ape Games has developed Samurai Siege, which has seen global success, with more than 11 million downloads and revenue of more than $23 million. Its available in both iOS and Android platforms.
