Funding Box: The Latest Startup Funding News

The Funding Box provides information on venture capital/private equity and startup funding. Here's a list of top startup funding stories.

Exablox, a Sunnyvale, CA-based storage firm, has raised $7 million in series C funding round. As part of the transaction, Toshiba America Electronics Components Inc. joined Dell Ventures as a strategic investor to support new drive technologies and meet the demand of the market. Exablox offers, a cloud-managed, scale-out object-based solution that combines an hardware architecture and integrated, enterprise-grade software. Overall, Exablox has received $45 million in total funding. 

Dvtel, a Ridgefield, NJ-based video surveillance solution provider, has received a $9 million investment. Investors included Seacoast Capital and EGIS Capital Partners. The company plans to use the funds to continue its growth plans and boost R&D efforts. Dvtel is a developer of open-standard, end-to-end video surveillance solutions with its advanced technology R&D department providing enterprise-grade integrated IP video networks available for small, mid-size and enterprise business.

Feedzai, a San Mateo, CA-based data science firm that provides fraud protection and detection solutions, has raised $17.5 million in Series B funding round. Investors included Oak HC/FT, Sapphire Ventures (formerly SAP Ventures) and Espirito Santo Ventures. Feedzai provides a real-time risk and fraud decision science platform to customers including Fisrt Data, Celfocus, Coca-Cola, Logica, Vodafone, Ericsson and Servebase Credit Card Solutions.

Acast, a Stockholm and London-based podcasting app and web service, has completed its Series A funding round. Investors included Bonnier Growth Media and existing investor Moor. The funds will be used to expand its operations in Europe and US. Acast provides a podcast platform that allow users to discover and share on-demand auto content enhanced with videos, images and links upgrade the listening experience. Named as start-up of the Year by IDG magazine and Internetworld. 

AllSeated, a NYC-based online collaboration application designed specifically for the events industry, has raised an undisclosed amount of funding. Investors included Magma Venture Partners and new existing investors. The company will used the funds to expand its network. AllSeated provides a network for event industry players to meet and collaborate to create events. 

Mediabong, a Paris-based network for contextual video advertising solutions, has raised $5 million in Series B funding round. Investors included Enterpreneur Ventures and Conegliano Venture. The company plans to use the funds to expand its operations and accelerate the launch of its new-patented technology- SyncRoll. Mediabong provides a contextual advertising platform that leverages algorithms based on user psychology, semantic profiling and performance.
