Wellington Management Company led this round with participation from previous investors New Enterprise Associates and Morgan Creek Capital Management. To date, the company has raised $39 million in total funding. The new funds will be used to continue user acquisition through automated loyalty and rewards programs, integration with other mobile consumer services, and expansion to other areas. TabbedOut is a mobile payment app for bars and restaurants to anonymously track customer baskets and behavior, creating comprehensive consumer databases that offer actionable insights into their customer’s spending habits.
Joyus, a San Francisco, CA-based direct response online video network, has raised $24 million in new financing round. Marker LLC and Steamboat Ventures led this funding round with participation from existing investors Accel Partners, InterWest and Time Warner Investments. The new funds will be used to invest in product, engineering and expand distribution for its video network. Joyus is a direct response video network, creating and distributing premium lifestyle content for women that is monetized directly through commerce.
Cockroach Labs, a New York-based open-source database startup, has raised $6.25 million in seed funding round. Investors include Benchmark, Google Ventures and Sequoia Capital. The new funds will be used to continue to develop the platform and expand operations. TTV Capital led this round with participation from existing investors TechOperators and Silicon Valley Bank. The company plans to use the funds to continue investing in its platform and continue increasing sales and marketing efforts. Springbot is a Gold Technology Partner of Magento, an eBay company, which combines marketing automation and marketing analytics to deliver a marketing robotics service for eCommerce stores to drive more traffic, conversions and overall revenue.

RRE Ventures led this round with participation from BoxGroup, LAUNCH Fund, Capital Factory and Neu Ventures. The company plans to use the funds to continue expansion on the development of its platform and accelerate adoption among users and insurers. Informed Data Systems provides One Drop, a diabetes management software, hardware and services platform. The company's platform can be downloaded for iOS and Apple Watch.

Speexx, a Munich, Germany-based provider of cloud-based communication and language skills training for large organization, has raised $5 million in series A funding round. Investors included Ventech and Alto Invest. The new funds will be used to continue products development and extend its global presence. Speexx provides large organisations with cloud-based online language learning solutions for Business English, Spanish, German, Italian and French with ongoing support in 13 languages. The company has more than 7 million subscribers in 1,500 organizations – including Ericsson, Saint-Gobain, UNHCR and Credit Suisse.
VideoBlocks, a Reston, Virginia-based provider of royalty-free stock video, has raised $8 million in seed funding round. North Atlantic Capital led this funding round. The company plans to use the funds to further accelerate the growth of the its newly launched marketplace, explore new content verticals and expand its team. VideoBlocks is a subscription-based provider of unlimited royalty-free stock video. VideoBlocks allows customers to enhance their creative projects, ranging from professional production studios like NBC, Discovery and MTV to enthusiasts like colleges, churches and video editing hobbyists.
PennyOwl, a NYC and dublin-based smart allowance app with learning features, has raised $1.3 million in seed funding round. Investors included R. Richard Fontaine of Flipside Investments, former chairman and CEO of GameStop, Inc., Silicon Valley Bank (SVB) and Enterprise Ireland (EI). The new funds will be used to hire new people and grow and its offering in the US and international markets. PennyOwl is creating a suite of tools for parents start the money conversation with their children, getting real-world experience with saving and spending and stimulating thinking about money and financial habits. ShoreGroup Inc., a NY-based provider of software and managed services to support network infrastructure, has received a growth equity investment from Francisco Partners, a global technology-focused private equity firm. Financial details werte not disclosed. The funding, which is expected to close within 60 days, will support the next phase of ShoreGroup’s growth.
