CA Technologies To Acquire Xceedium, An Identity Management Solution Provider

CA Technologies (NASDAQ: CA) has announced that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire privately held Xceedium, a provider of privileged identity management solutions that protect on-premise, cloud and hybrid IT environments. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. The deal is expected to close within the quarter of this year.

Buying Xceedium will boost and expand CA's security offerings with a  comprehensive solution for controlling and protecting IT admin and other privileged user accounts from all kind of cyber attacks and malicious works.

Steve Firestone, senior vice president and general manager of security at CA Technologies, said in a statement that: “Our digital world gives organizations tremendous opportunity; it also introduces additional regulatory demands and increased risk as bad actors penetrate our networks using stolen credentials which give them the proverbial 'keys to the kingdom”, and also added that: "The CA and Xceedium combination will reinforce our leadership position in privileged identity management and offer customers a flexible approach to managing privileged identity compliance and risk."

Xsuite, Xceedium’s innovative privileged identity management solution for hybrid IT environments, it offers an identity-centric, proxy-based approach that provides a centralized point of authentication for IT administrators, brokering the release of credentials for shared administrative accounts without exposing them to the risk of theft, compromise, or misuse. Xsuite Xsuite provides scalability and simplified deployment, and can be deployed as a physical or virtual appliance or as an Amazon AWS machine image. In addition, it also helps address security and compliance needs-  centralized shared account management for enhanced administrator accountability, administrative session recording for audit and incident forensics, and command filtering to limit the scope of IT administrator activity and network access.

Based in Herndon, Virginia and founded in 2000, Xceedium is a leading provider of privileged identity management solution for hybrid enterprises. The company holds four patents in the area of privileged identity management and supports customers across multiple markets- finance services, retail, manufacturing and government. Xceedium's platform enables organizations to comply with security and privacy mandates, such as PCI DSS, FISMA, HIPAA, and NERC CIP

CA has been busy building its software arsenal, acquiring small but strategically-important companies. In May, it acquired Rally Software, a provider of Agile development software and services. And in June, CA announced its acquisition of Grid Tools Ltd., a provider of enterprise test data management and optimization software solutions.
