Funding Box: The Latest Startup Funding News

The Funding Box provides information on venture capital/private equity and startup funding. Here's a list of top startup funding stories.

Sarvint Technologies Inc., an Atlanta-based wearables technology company, has completed a $6 million Series A financing round. CTW Venture Partners led this financing round, with participation from Monta Vista Capital and Maxim Ventures. The funds will be used to further develop and commercialize the company's Wearable Motherboard Technology. Sarvint has developed Wearable Motherboard, a garment that uses special fibers to detect and monitor body vital signs such as heart rates, temperature and other health metrics that can be monitored. 

BitFlyer, a Tokyo-based Bitcoin marketplace and settlement platform, has raised approximately JPY 510 million in funding. IMitsubishi UFJ Capital Co., Ltd., Dentsu Digital Holdings, Inc., QUICK Corp., MITSUI SUMITOMO INSURANCE Venture Capital Co., Ltd. and Venture Labs Investment Co., Ltd., have made the investment. The new funds will be used to continue to improve security and promote customer base expansion and expand global business development. The company operates the following: bitflyer Lightning, a Bitcoin Exchange designed for professionals; chainFlyer, a website that provides a visualization of the blockchain; bitFlyer app for Android; adFlyer, an advertisement service built on Bitcoin and; Bitcoin Multi-Sig security.

LivingLens, a UK-based software provider, has raised £1 million in Series A funding round. The new funds will be used to expand the client servicing function and to improve video technology. LivingLens provides software that allows brands to share video and to get closer to their consumers by using video mining technologies.

Lightricks, a Israel-based developer of premium image processing software for mobile platform, has closed a $10 million financing round. Venture capital firm Carmel Ventures led this financing round. Founded in 2013, Lightricks develops two image processing apps: Facetune, a portrait retouching app and; Enlight, a general photo editor. 

PokiDok, a US-based provider of web services to integrate healthcare transactions into any app, website and product, has raised $34 million in Series B funding round. Lemhi Ventures led this funding round. PokiDok provides cloud-based web services to integrate healthcare transactions into any app, website and product. The company's platform are used by large group providers, healthcare systems integrator and health businesses. In addition, PokiDok is also backed by Rogers Partners, New Atlantic Ventures, Subtraction Capital and angels Zac Zeitlin and jonathan Sposato.

Rift.io, a Massachusetts-based provider of an open source network virtualization platform, has completed a $16 million  Series A funding round. North Bridge Venture Partners led this round with some participation from strategic investors. The new funding will be used to continue the development of RIFTware and expand its engineering team. Founded in 2014, Rift.io provides an open source network virtualization that simplifies the development, deployment and management of virtual network services. Using RIFT.io's technology companies can start with a single network application or service on a single virtual machine (VM) on any cloud platform.
